Background
Ms. Sengupta is M.Phil (Economics) from London University. She has done M.Sc. (Economics) from London University, M.A. (Economics) from Delhi School of Economics and B.A. (Economics) from Delhi University. She worked at National Institute of Economic and Social Research, London on forecasting models for the British Economy. She worked at LSE on Indian Labour Markets.
From the year 1996 to 1977 she was Lecturer in Economics in IP College and Miranda House. In the year 1981 she worked as a Consultant at the Institute of Applied Manpower Research. From the period 1981 to 1984 she was Consultant and Programme Coordinator at ICRIER. She also worked in the position of Part time Editor for ?Margin? magazine. As a Senior Economic Writer, Hindustan Times she wrote various editorials. She was Consultant (Part Time) to the Economic Development Institute and Finance and Industry Division. From October 1987 to September 1989 she was Consultant (full-time) at the Economic Development Institute (World Bank) in the National Economic Management Division. During the year 1990 to 1993 she was Consultant to OECD (Paris) on DAC Conference. Besides this she has to her credit various Academic Papers.
Presently
She is writing a book titled "The Global Economic Crisis: Ramifications for India: Opportunities and Challenges."
