Expertise and Areas of Interest
Localization of Emerging Technologies and Indian language computing and Issues and challenges in elementary education.

Background
Rammohan Khanapurkar has done Masters in 'Communication and Journalism' from the University of Mumbai. As a media lecturer he worked in several mass media institutions across Mumbai. As an educationist, Rammohan introduced innovative ideas in Media pedagogy.

While working as a media analyst, Rammohan keenly followed socio-linguistic issues in India. He developed keen academic interest in the field of 'Language Planning and Language Development'. Along the way, he channelized his interest in the area of 'ICT localization and issues in Indian language computing'. He has designed several advocacy campaigns to promote Marathi computing. He has also conducted several workshops and training programs on language computing across schools and colleges in Maharashtra.

Rammohan was also active in formalizing first ever online course in regional language for the pre-service training students of D.Ed. College in Nandurbar district, Maharashtra.

Rammohan is also involved in various action research projects in Elementary Education, esp. in the rural areas. He is working closely with education groups doing path-breaking pedagogic work in elementary education and building alternative models for scalable emulation.

Presently
In his present capacity as a fellow he is working on Resolving issues related to ICT localization in Indian Languages, Creating models of ICT localization for knowledge based development in Indian languages and highlighting issues in the elementary education system and suggest policy reforms.

He is working on - Analysis of Government Websites to understand effectiveness of e-governance and Status of Elementary Education in Maharashtra.
