OBSERVER RESEARCH FOUNDATION

 invites applications for
 FELLOWS
 at different levels to be based at Chennai/Delhi/Mumbai.  

Fellows would be expected to undertake policy research mainly in the areas of Education, Energy, Trade Policy, International Relations, Health and Urban Affairs. The applicants should have a strong academic background, ability to engage in Policy-relevant research, basic computer skills and good communication and writing skills in English. 

Selected candidates would be offered a position in line with their qualifications and experience.  For senior positions in health, education and urban affairs, the applicant should ideally have a Ph.D. in Social Sciences and a minimum of five years’ experience of independent research. For Energy, applicants with at least a P.G. degree in related technology areas and having at least five years experience with energy industry will be preferred. For projects on Trade Policy, applicants with at least five years experience of similar work would be preferred. The responsibilities would include guiding a team of researchers, conceptualizing and preparing projects, as well as research in the above areas. Academics in teaching Institutions / Universities desirous of pursuing a sabbatical are also encouraged to respond.

For junior positions fresh PhDs and candidates with exceptional qualifications (M.Phil or MA) would also be considered. 

Salary would be commensurate with experience and qualifications. This will be tenure-based appointment.

Qualification:
We are looking for a post- graduate degree/diploma holder in Computer Science and/or Computer Applications.

Skill Set:
The person should have the ability to code html, xml pages and create templates. He/She should be able to secure the website and manage the database, web servers, user/group accounts and User and Technical Documentation. He/she should also have knowledge of Perl, Cold fusion, Php, server side programming/CGI, client side scripting/DHTML and Java. 

Job Responsibilities:
The person selected will be responsible for spot checking new or modified pages, look for missing images, check new/modified pages in various browsers on various platforms with and without style sheets on, post announcements of new or updated pages, scan the major search engines and directories (e.g. Google for our main keywords, and monitor our positions, submit entries to maintain or improve our representation, check for broken links, monitor the error logs and report potential problems, check site rankings in the major search engines, improve our procedures and scripts, create new pages and multimedia demos and periodically visit relevant newsgroups and mailing lists and mention our URLs.

Salary will be no constrain for the right candidate.

Qualification:
Post-graduate degree/diploma in journalism and mass communication with at least two years experience in print or publishing industry and strong English language and grammar skills. 

 

  • Should have good knowledge of Quark Xpress and Photoshop and basic knowledge of html and xml.
  • Should have the ability to work in a Content Management System enabled environment and to organise information for the Knowledge Management System
Job Responsibilities
  • Editing, structuring and packaging all research and non-research content of ORF and transcription of conference and seminar proceedings. 
  • Close coordination with the Communications Division of ORF for major events, seminars and conferences. 
  • Preparing reports on conferences, workshops and seminars.
  • Uploading image, audio and video files.
Remuneration :
Will be the best in the industry and shall not be a constraint for the right candidate.
