Impact of Obama’s New Afghan Policy: Gen. Mirza Aslam Beg
Islamabad: Daily Khabrain, December 07, 2009. US President Obama has issued an order to send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. "Now with more than 100,000 US troops and 45000 NATO forces, it must have been calculated that the goals will be met in the limited period. President Obama is determined that he will go out from Afghanistan in three years," said former Army Chief General Mirza Aslam Beg, in his latest analytical write-up. He further said, "Taliban is also determined to talk with US after they quit Afghanistan, because they know that they have the upper hand. Islamic World has widely maintained that Taliban gets ’Fath-i-Mubeen’, the Historical Conquest in South Asia, and US is the biggest failure."
Beg further stated that, "Pakistan achieved its goal when President Obama endorsed the Biden-Plan and gave the green signal to send $700 billion aid in the name of Afghan reconstruction. Basically Obama’s step has enabled Pakistan to start a new relationship between Kabul and Beijing. He accused CIA, RAW and Moosad of creating trouble in the region. Unless these activities ceased, the peace process in Afghanistan would remain still born".
