August 3, 2012. Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) has sanctioned' 1250 crore for Tripura under National Climate Change Mission (NCCM) with an eight points mandate in implantation of the programme. The Centre had sanctioned the project for eight missions to trap solar energy, increase the use of bio fertilizer, enhance forestry to clean environment, sustainable habitant, sustainable use of water and embankment management of water'bodies and rivers, energy efficiency, Himalayan eco'system, green Tripura and strategic knowledge. The proposed plan of action to be implemented for addressing the climate change issues in Tripura. The state government was earlier awarded with two foreign aided projects for forest management and sustainable livelihood management. And in mid'term appraisal of the projects revealed that Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has miserable failed to achieve it's goals though Indo'German Development Cooperation (IGDC) performed better so far as creation of livelihood options were concerns. However, as part of the climate change mission the state government had distributed 32,228 solar lamps in 797 remote villages.
