TransCanada moves forward on Gulf Coast pipeline project

03 July 2012

June 28, 2012. TransCanada Corp. has won federal approval to build the southernmost section of the massive pipeline it plans to bring crude oil from Oklahoma to the Gulf Coast, the company said. TransCanada received a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers's Galveston district to build the 117-mile stretch of its Gulf Coast Project pipeline ending at the Gulf Coast city of Nederland, Texas. The Calgary-based company needs permits from two other Corps districts before it can start constructing the 700,000 barrel-a-day pipeline to supply crude oil from the oil storage hub of Cushing, Okla., to Gulf Coast refiners.
