Mauritius seeks clarity from ONGC subsidiary MRPL on US sanctions

17 July 2012

July 11, 2012. Mauritius has asked Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) to produce an undertaking that its shipments will not be affected by the US sanctions on Iran, a move that may hit petroleum exports to the island nation. MRPL, a subsidiary of ONGC, is in a pact with Mauritius' state trading corporation to meet the nation's petroleum requirements. MRPL has said that it cannot yet produce such an undertaking, but has assured Mauritius that it has reduced its crude imports from Iran.
