July 30, 2012. Despite the huge grid failure in north India which affected as many as six states apart from Delhi, prices at the power exchanges did not see any major up or down trend in prices. There has only been a change in the supply schedule because of the unavailability of the grids. The only prices that may be affected are the unscheduled interchange rates at the exchanges - which can be compared to spot prices in other markets. With the grid down, demand from North India for unscheduled interchange power has dwindled, and prices have declined to some extent. Nevertheless, power producers have also been asked to reduce generation to some extent.
