Kathmandu, January 11: The government has fixed April 10, 2007 as the date for Constituent Assembly (CA) election to be held in single phase. A meeting of the council of ministers today fixed the election date. According to reports, a meeting of the top leaders of three big parties – Nepali Congress, Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) and Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN- Maoist) held in Baluwatar today approved the date. The Seven Party Alliance (SPA) and the government had been on homework to set the CA election date for some days now. The CA polls had been deferred twice in the past in the wake of fierce bickering among the coalition partners.
